The Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired (SABVI) held a White Cane Day, on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Penn Square in Lancaster. The goal for the day was to increase the community's awareness of the White Cane Law, its importance, and how the use of the White Cane benefits people who are blind and visually impaired. The White Cane Day events centered around a White Cane/guide dog experience in and around downtown Lancaster and Central Market. The Lions and Lioness Clubs of District 14-D received a "White Cane Award" in recognition of their continued support of the blind/low vision community.
