On June 17, 2012 Lancaster and Lebanon Counties were awakened by the roar of motorcycles as they started District’s 14-D 23rd Annual “Ride for Sight” fundraiser. After enjoying a delicious buffet breakfast and an inspiring church service at the Lititz Family Cupboard Restaurant, men, women and children traveled through Lititz, Stevens, Reamstown, Reinholds (rest stop) , and the surrounding countryside. The ride ended at the Kauffman's Bar-B-Que Ranch in Bethel where all riders enjoyed a Chicken Bar-B-Que lunch and were entertained by a local entertainer “Lion” Dean-O.  Twenty three years ago, PDG Walter Lesher saw that there was a need to find a way to raise funds to help the Blind and Visually Impaired in District 14-D and it was only natural to incorporate his love of motorcycles into this plan. Since its inception along with his partner in service Lion Sharon, PDG Lesher has raised over $225,000 which has been donated to SABVI (Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired) which has locations both in Lancaster and Lebanon counties and whose main mission is helping restore autonomy and independence to the lives of Lancaster and Lebanon county residents who are blind and vision impaired. The Lions of District 14-D thank the bikers that participated in the ride this year and proved again that their hearts are as big as their bikes!

Join us next year on June 16th for the 24th Ride for Sight. For more information contact PDG Walter at slesher@ptd.net
